Editing task.

This clip from Sean of the dead involves a continuity editing of Simon pegg travelling to the shop and back, oblivious to the danger that surrounds him however the audience is always fully aware and this is a form of dramatic irony in which the audience understands what is going on within the scene whereas the characters haven't grasped it yet. Relatively little happens in this clip and the pace is quite slow which builds up tension for what is revealed at the end. The two protagonists are identified immediately through the use of close up/medium close up shots of their faces. Tension is built up with the use of cinematography, more specifically a tracking shot which is ironic as the protagonist is being followed by the zombies as well as the audience following the protagonist. Furthermore, the use of straight cuts is important because it is cohesive and accompanies the continuity editing nicely as the audience isnt distracted by elements from other scenes. The majority of this clip is a juxtaposition as the title is 'Sean of the dead' and the clip exclusively features sean and the zombies/dead. Furthermore, the non-diegetic piano music usually associated with horror/thriller movies is effective at building up tension as the audience is expecting the protagonist to react according to the situation and music-in a frightened way however still the main character hasn't acknowledged whats going on around him. Subsequently, whilst Pegg was in the shop there was an over the shoulder shot of the shopkeeper but in soft focus suggesting to the audience that he could have become a zombie. The mise-en-scene is very obvious as there are scenes of destruction and zombies in the background however the protagonist doesn't see this as his head is down most of the time and is probably still half asleep.

Cleverley, an enigma code is used in the beginning with the list on the fridge which says 'sort life out' and when in the shop instead of opting for the regular coke can he changes his mind and picks the diet one. Also, the pace stays the same and continues to build up tension however, the tempo of the music increases but reaches an anit-climax when he sits down and just turns the tv on. Editing is used significantly when the tv is turned on. As this is a montage of different well known tv channels which tell the audience whats happening in terms of the zombies but not explicitly as the ending of each sentence from one channel is finished by another completely different channel and so on but manages to build up a sense of curiousness as to whats going on until the end broadcast which explains explicitly whats going on with the zombies.

 Also the camera gradually zooms in to the broadcasters face and the reflection of pegg can be seen in the background who is starring aimlessly at the television. Moreover, the tv clips juxtapose whats going on outside with the zombies but still only the audience gets and understands these obvious clues as to whats going on.
