Cinematography

(Hot Fuzz opening scene)
The opening scene includes medium close up shots of the characters just revealing that they are part of the met police and that the environment they are in is a police station. The conversation starts off normal but gets more intense and this is demonstrated by the change of shot from medium close up to close up of the men's faces, this is significant because it shows their facial expressions and the growing anger and frustration building up within simon pegg. Furthermore, the clip proceeds with over the shoulder shots or POV shots to bring the audience into the discussion, close ups remain prominent whilst focusing on the protagonist simon pegg and as more people enter the room and sit opposite pegg a medium shot is used to fit all of them in. The camera then zooms in on the telephone with an extreme close up shot and this just exaggerates it as it is a useless object and doesn't contribute to the storyline in any way. At the end there is a reverse shot of a close up of peggs face in shock and disbelief looking at his colleagues in a POV shot celebrating his leave and then the camera returns back to pegg who is still in shock and disbelief.
